Facilities at BPS


Availability: The Berks Photographic Society building is accessible to members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with the exception of Monday evenings from 5:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. so not to interfere with the program/meeting.

Auditorium: The main meeting room of the building, with its 60 seat auditorium, is where most events are held. This comfortable setting, with its 8 x 8 foot screen, is used for all events.

Social Room
: The lower level of the building contains a spacious social area and library where members can meet and share their experiences and knowledge. A kitchen is adjacent to the room.

Library: Books and magazines are available in the social room. They may not be removed from the premises.

Security: Security cameras record persons entering the building and at other locations. Good member standing is based upon following the usage rules for each area of the building. Upon payment of dues each member receives a keycard to open the front door of the building. This key is nontransferable and can be used only by the member to whom It was Issued.

Studio: The studio Is located on the second floor of the building. Before a member is allowed to use the studio, they must attain qualification by one of the instructors or specified board member. This training includes the use and care of equipment and the policies/procedures for the studio. A calendar is posted outside the studio for advance reservation. No Society equipment may be removed from the studio. It is the member’s responsibility to reset or return to its position any equipment used. Any member who complies with the requirement of qualification may obtain the code for access the studio.

Darkroom: The darkroom is located on the second floor of the building. Before a member is allowed to use the darkroom, they must attain qualification by one of the instructors or specified board member. This training includes the use and care of equipment and the policies/procedures for the darkroom. A calendar is posted outside the darkroom for advance reservation. No Society equipment may be removed from the darkroom. It is the member’s responsibility to reset or return to its position any equipment used. Any member who complies with the requirement of qualification may obtain the code to access the darkroom.

Print Finishing Room: The print finishing room is located on the second floor of the building. The print finishing room is available to all members who have paid for the access code.

Lockers: Lockers are available for annual rental. They are located near or in the area of the darkroom.
